Orion^TM Series

The Orion series of standby power supply monitoring equipment is an efficient and cost effective solution to the problem of remotely monitoring pole- or pedistal- mounted battery backup power supplies. The patented device uses a cellular control channel transmitter, about the size of a paperback book, and connects directly to a backup power supply. It continuously monitors the supply for critical events. Events monitored include:

Loss of commercial power at the site Restoration of commercial power Loss of Coax Voltage (failure of supply) Tamper alarm

In addition to the primary, service-related parameters, other points of the backup power supply are also monitored. These are also transmitted on each event, or on request from the central site. The status information reported includes:

Mode (commercial or battery power) of the power supply Reason for the Transmission Coax Center Conductor Voltage Coax Center Conductor Current (not available on all models) Battery Voltage State of the Tamper Alarm

Detecting an event is only valuable if the information is put into the hands of the personnel who need it. To complete the solution, Wireless Data Concepts' computer system processes the information and converts it to a usable format for the consumer.
